The expanse of white sandy beach and shallow water makes this a great spot for families, with a wrap-around view of Eagle Bluff in Peninsula State Park forming the southern crescent, around to the view of our quintessential village on the hill. Walk down for the day and take your lunch break back at Eagle Harbor Inn. Remember to pack your towel!
Understated and beautiful Raku pottery is Brian’s specialty, in addition to organizing the Door County 1/2 Marathon. This shop, two doors down in a turn-of-the-century log cabin, offers utilitarian pieces as well as handsome artwork.
Stacy B. herself is the essence of fun, bringing us her whimsical selection of teen props, funky jewelry, summer decorative accessories and wall decor artfully arranged in her little white cottage.
Water Street Gallery
Then there is Fred B., Stacy’s husband, in the larger cottage next door, also a Door County native and an energetic, self-taught painter. Stop by the Gallery for an array of framed Door County art and nautical maps and great conversation.
South Shore Pier
South Shore Pier has been renting boats to visitors of Door County since 1946. Whether you want a pontoon for a group cruise or prefer to paddle by kayak, South Shore has a range of water-faring vessels. Their location provides easy access to Nicolet Beach, Horsehoe Island, Eagle Bluff, and Eagle Lighthouse.
Geoff and Ann hail from Florida bringing their original talent for creating unusual modern art, sculpture, and paintings. Imbued with warm tropical colors, their striking compositions bring life to every space.

The little sister of the Ellison Bay mainstay Wickman House, Trixie’s has quickly established itself as a must-dine option for Door County visitors. The menu leans heavily on ingredients sourced from growers who have a commitment to sustainability. They pair dishes with wine made with low intervention, traditional, sustainable, organic, and biodynamic methods, with special attention paid to women winemakers.
Wilson’s Ice Cream Parlor
Originating in 1909, this old-fashioned ice cream parlor is a must-visit. Featuring home-brewed root beer and great ice cream from the classic soda fountain. Lunch and dinner are served on the outdoor patio with a view of Ephraim’s acclaimed sunsets.
Joel, a.k.a. Mr. Good Eggs, serve up a wonderful breakfast burrito with your choice of some gourmet ingredients that will keep you filled up all day. Surfboards provide outdoor seating with a water view.
Czarnuszka Soup Bar
Next door to Eagle Harbor Inn in the Shorewood Village Shops, proprietor Paul prepares a daily menu of four tasty Eastern European soups and two sandwiches. The offerings change frequently, so check their Facebook page to get a preview.
Chef’s Hat Cafe
The food coming out of this quaint cottage in downtown Ephraim is traditional American with a twist. Expect quality, fresh ingredients and outdoor seating with views of the Bay.
North Ephraim’s garden restaurant has made a name for itself with its excellent selection of rotating soups and Mexican cuisine.
Our guests love having Leroy’s three doors down for an early morning or late night bolt of great coffee and pastries. Indoor seating with games in this turn-of-the-century log cabin or popular outdoor seating where you can watch the world go by.

Door County Culture and The Arts
Anderson Dock, Ephraim
The building where Hardy Gallery is now was once a warehouse and dock for turn-of-the-19th-century steamships carrying summer guests and supplies. Now the building — which is on the National Historic Places Register — hosts three art exhibits per year. Visitors can’t miss its graffitied clapboard exterior. It is also a great fishing and sunset spot.
Svalhus, which translates to “cool house” in Norwegian, resided on Eagle Harbor Inn’s property before the Neddersens donated the structure to the Ephraim Historical Foundation. After it was donated, the building was relocated to a spot near Anderson Dock and it now serves as a community research library and a living example of Norwegian architecture. Door Community Auditorium
Home of unforgettable experiences, Door Community Auditorium is Door County’s year-round venue for an eclectic mix of performing arts, entertainment, cultural, and educational activities. Upcoming performances include Mavis Staples, Lyle Lovett, and the Righteous Brothers.
Peninsula School of Art
Founded just after World War I by faculty from The Art Institute of Chicago who had begun spending summers in Door County to paint and teach, Peninsula School of Art has long nurtured artistic expression. The school offers year-round workshops, studios, events, and exhibitions for adults and children.
Clearing Folk School
Clear your mind by reconnecting with nature and one another at the “school of the soil” founded by landscape architect Jens Jensen. Year-round class offerings range from crafts, photography, science, humanities, natural sciences, and outdoor experiences.
Locals and visitors look forward to shows performed by the Peninsula Players at the “theatre in a garden.” The professional theater is the oldest summer resident theater in America.
Northern Sky Theater
Formerly known as the American Folklore theater, you’ll find heartwarming original musicals performed in an amphitheater under the stars in Peninsula State Park (though shows move indoors to Fish Creek in the fall).
Birch Creek Music Performance Center
This retrofitted barn serves as a professional mentoring environment for promising young musicians as well as a celebrated concert venue.
Experience chamber music like never before in a range of unique venues. The performances have included world premieres and feature world-class artists from places like Lyric Opera of Chicago and Aspen Music Festival.
Shakespeare’s plays come to life outdoors in the Garden of Bjorklunden’s 405-acre estate, made available by Lawrence University, a liberal arts college, and conservatory of music.
